Introducing Michelle, our 19 // Training Camp Female Winner.
A vibrant addition to our UBX family since January 2024, Michelle’s daily life is shared with her husband and three active kids, and usually includes a whirlwind of activities ranging from netball and football to cricket. Despite the busy schedule, she’s always found time for fitness, which led her to us.
Michelle’s UBX journey began with our “12-in-28 Challenge” (to complete 12 workouts in 28 days), a turning point that saw her transition from a occasional gym-goer to a committed enthusiast, drawn in by the unique energy and community spirit of UBX. Initially joining to tone up and boost her strength, Michelle has surpassed her own expectations. From mastering full push-ups, once a daunting task, to setting her sights on conquering chin-ups without assistance, her ambition knows no bounds.
But Michelle’s journey isn’t just about physical milestones; it’s about self-confidence. This transformation, fueled by the support of her UBX coaches, has prepared her for her next endeavor: conquering Hyrox in June this year. With her unwavering determination and the UBX community by her side, Michelle is a testament to where commitment and a supportive environment can lead.
Here is Michelle’s transformation from Training Camp:

TRAINING
What was your approach to the Training?
“During the Training Camp I was training at UBX 6 days a week most weeks, sometimes 7. In between attending the gym I was also walking. Previously, I was training about 4 times per week but due to a job change in 2023 I was not able to get to my sessions as much as I would have liked, only getting to 1 or 2 sessions a week. I loved the increased intensity of the UBX sessions during the challenge.”
NUTRITION
What was your approach to the nutrition aspect of the challenge?
“I started tracking all of my food during the Training Camp so I could monitor everything I was putting into my body. I loved the Training Camp app meal plan for finding new ideas so I wasn’t eating the same thing all the time, and I made adaptations to the meal plan to suit my busy lifestyle and the foods I liked. It wasn’t a big change to my pre-Training Camp nutrition, but I was definitely more mindful of not adding extra snacks or foods that I didn’t really need. I also used protein powder and protein water to assist my nutrition.”
MINDSET
How are you feeling post-Training Camp?
“I have been feeling so good since the end of the Training Camp, it was definitely the reset that my mind and body needed. I am definitely feeling more energetic and sleeping better, but most importantly I am feeling more confident within myself and with what I see in the mirror.
I have loved the challenge of new exercises in the gym and can feel my strength increasing. My goal when I started the Training Camp was to tone my body while increasing my strength. I still want to continue to do both of these things by increasing my weights. Before the challenge started I wasn’t able to do full pushups, I can now consistently perform full push ups.
My next specific goal is to be able to do chin ups without any assistance from the bands. More importantly, this Training Camp was about me feeling confident within myself, and I have definitely achieved that. I have just signed up for Hyrox in June so my training for the next few months will be aimed towards completing this. I am looking forward to my next challenge with the assistance from my UBX coaches.”
ADVICE
What advice do you have for other members taking on the Training Camp – 6 week challenge?
“My advice for others would be to try something new. Signing up for UBX was stepping out of my comfort zone but it was the best thing I did for myself and my training. Second: consistency is the key; changes don’t happen overnight, but with consistent training and nutrition it will happen.”
