Introducing John, our 23 // Training Camp Major Prize Male Winner.

For John, life presented an opportunity to hit reset and focus on what really matters – his health, fitness, and wellbeing.

“It was a moment that left a lot of free time – time I initially spent thinking and just feeling generally rubbish!” John shares.

With a background in the British Army, he missed the camaraderie, structure, and challenge of pushing himself physically. “I knew I now had the time to start thinking about my health and fitness and letting it take centre stage again. Welcome, UBX!”

BENCHMARKS

Our 3 Benchmark exercises are designed to track your athletic progression from the start of Training Camp through to the end of the 6 week challenge.

John improved across each of his benchmarks:

  • Anaerobic Conditioning – 1:20 Ski – 9m improvement
  • Muscular Endurance – 3:00 10 Depth Squats, 10 Hand Release Push Ups & 10 Atomic Sit Ups – 16 rep improvement
  • Power – 30 SECOND ROW – 1 Cal improvement

BODY COMPOSITION

John also saw incredible changes in his body composition:

  • Body Fat Percentage reduced by 8.3%
  • 2.9kg of Muscle Mass gain
  • Total Body Weight loss of 4.6kg

Joining UBX

John joined UBX in September, just as the six-week challenge was approaching. “I told myself that I would give it a bloody good shot,” he laughs. And he committed fully.

Consistency & Commitment

Consistency was key. “I wanted to train five times a week, which sometimes proved tricky with life’s demands, but I kept up the consistency. If I didn’t get in Monday to Friday, I made sure I came in on the weekend to make up my five a week!”

He even picked up pickleball two to three times a week, adding extra fitness on top of his workouts.

The Nutrition Game-Changer

For John, nutrition was the biggest challenge – but also the biggest game-changer.

“Hands down, the nutrition part makes a massive difference. I cut back on my usual food intake, but I also made better choices like protein-rich foods and swapped out things like bread for high-protein wraps. I stopped snacking on chocolate and lollies, had smaller portion meals, and threw in a protein shake straight after training.”

The Results

The transformation has been life-changing.

“Since the end of the six-week challenge, I’ve noticed increased performance in my workouts, better overall health, better sleep and gut health, and I’m wearing clothes I haven’t fit in for a decade! Happy days!” John says.

Looking Ahead

John is now looking forward with positivity.

“My main goals for the new year are regular gym sessions, better nutrition – maybe cooking classes are required! On top of that, better sleep to help with recovery and feel fresher when I wake up.”
